Fatty liver, ALT and creatine

my question is with regards to my Liver ALT levels. at the moment i'm at around 15% bodyfat and my ALT levels are marginally elevated. i was diagnosed witha fatty liver and the doctor said I need to get rid of the excess bodyfat.

So I've got my training regime, cardio and diet all set and ready to go. but i was wondering if supplementing with creatine (CEE) can cause those ALT levels to shoot further up.

Completely missed this but can you update us on this?

15% is not high bodyfat percentage IMO, relatively normal so I don't see how getting rid of 5% bodyfat will help w/ fatty liver. Something is wrong, either a bad diagnosis or incorrect bf measurement. Can you see abs at all? 15% you would be getting close to seeing some ab formation when flexed, at least I would think.

I don't think you have anything to worry about CEE raising your ALT, but definately start working some anti-oxidants and clean up your diet.

sorry that BF measurement was actually 19-20%. now it sits around 21% and i'm diagnosed with metabolic syndrome. anymore closer and i will be diabetic type-2. This happened thanks to lab work and reports 24/7. now that the source of stress is over (university) I can have a fresh start. so apart from a clean diet and cardio what sort of anti-oxidants do you recommend I take?

Green Tea (I brew and drink the tea, personally like that better than the extract)
NAC

Eat lots of cruciferous veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussel sprouts, ect.)

Taurine - not a anti-oxidant but oh so important for liver health

That would be a start for my supplementation for this. NAC also increases insulin sensitivity (IA posted the study somewhere). Get rid of all processed foods, cardio everyday, carbs of the lower GI variety, and of course spend more time in the M&M forum, school may be over but stress is a re-occuring thing. Hopefully someone else will chime in as I am just merely reproducing things IA and Trouble have mentioned.

Hmm, dunno the GI of trehalose, but it is formed by two glucose units so I would stay away. I really don't consider trehalose a carb source, since it appears to me just to be a sweetner. The majority of your carb sources should come from brans and vegetables, IE green beans, oat bran, oats, carrots, broccoli, spinach, ect. ect.

Eat preferrably green veggies with each meal, but mixed veggies are good for you two. Here is some info on trehalose, I would still stay away if I were borderline type 2.

I like this chart as it is very convenient for me. However, read this sticky in the diet section for the GI of foods. Remember whole foods are where its at, stay away from processed shit and fiber is your friend.

ok trouble mentioned that little fibre intake can mess up the gut microflora and eventually lead to cortisol elevation. so how much fibre or fibre servings per day would you recommend grassroots?

You don't want to add shit-tons of fiber at one time. Already did that and it was not pleasant.

You need to keep track of it somehow, I use fitday.com and its really easy. It takes like 2-3 min to fill in your foods and it gives you a fiber count on it too. I would start w/ 30-40g and then gradually work your way up. What's your diet like Techno?
