Best for fat loss?

What type of cardio is best for burning bodyfat? I Have been dieting for about a month and everything is going great without cardio, but now I want to add some cardio, low intensity or some sprints?

the best is the one you'll keep doing.

sled dragging is THE BEST - it's fun, it's furious, it's fast, and it'll make the neighbours stare at you in a wierd way. but it's brutally physical.

HIIT is excellent - up to 20 minutes of furious activity interspersed with recovery periods.

moderate and low intensity will work better than high intensity that's never done, but your sessions need to be a minimum of thirty minutes up to as long as you can stand it.

I agree with threenorns. I'd just like to say a couple things.

HIIT and low intensity can be done together. When I say low intensity, I mean walking. Walking is good, but it just takes a LONG time. It'll actually lower cortisol, unlike traditional "cardio".

Traditional cardio only burns fat while you're exercising. HIIT and lifting raise your resting metabolic rate and burn fat for 24 hours PWO.

I've heard traditional cardio promotes fat gain, since fat is used for fuel. What does your body do to adapt? Better fuel itself for the next workout, and fat is the fuel for long traditional cardio. When you lift you burn carbs, and what happens? Your body stores more carbs for next workout. Might be something to the concept of cardio promoting fat storage.

no, it's not true, discus. i've lost weight doing nothning more strenuous than walking the dog for 45 minutes twice a day and making no other change in my lifestyle.

going by your theory, i should've been a total chunk-monkey after six months.

Perhaps the walking wasn't intense enough for the body to want to store fat to prepare for the next session?

For example, if you did 1 set of 10 reps with 50%, that wouldn't be enough to really force the body into sarcoplasmic hypertrophy.

sorry, discus, but your theory is WAY out of left field and flies in the face of generations of empirical evidence showing that moderate cardio does lead to fat loss.

where's your source?

This is just something I've heard Eric Serrano say. I've also heard Poliquin say things about this, too. I think he specifically mentioned spinning and "marbling" your legs like a nice fatty steak lol.

I don't know if it's true or not, but perhaps we can figure it out now

Cardio does help with fat loss, but I know Poliquin mentioned something about a woman that was quite lean but couldn't get her legs lean, and he had her stop spinning and her legs leaned out. Perhaps the traditional cardio does help with fat loss with higher bodyfat levels, but when you're quite lean it encourages some fat storage? I dunno, just thinking outloud. I'm thinking flabby distance runners vs. ripped to shreds sprinters here.
