Index on rings!

Anybody else find that when you place your index finger on the rings whilst benching, that your hands slip further apart each rep?

Depends on the bar... smooth = slippage. Chalk helps...

No. You need to be squeezing the bar as tight as possible with any grip. It shouldn't slip.

Hmm, why do I get the sneaking suspicion you train in a public facility with the knurling which is ridiculously smooth.

One of the unfortunate side effects of this is there are untold amounts of unknown and not very pleasant substances lingering on the bars. I would suggest going to whoever maintains the facilities and asking them to leave some type of alcohol based cleaner to sanitize the equipment before you use it as well. If you facility does not allow chalk, then consider investing into liquid chalk possibly.
