Big Week this Week
Tomorrow's going to be my first shirted attempt at a max BP (using a single-ply Rage) since last November. To follow that up, Friday I'll be suiting up for a max squat, using a suit I haven't put on before, a Metal Pro Squatter. I used a single-ply Inzer Hardcore at my meet, so this will be way different and much more advanced of a suit.
Obviously, I'll be looking for PRs on both, but it's also good timing since I just started a period of 'advanced supplementation' and it's nice to have a true measure at both the beginning and end (although after reading IA's 'Truisms' post, I'm wondering if I'm going to extend a little, like about 5 years !)

Good luck! The metal is going to feel a LOT different. Have good spotters around. The suit might surprise you. The third time I squatted in a suit I lost my balance went backwards and did bad things to the powerrack and bar--lol.

Thanks. Good news is we have a monolift, and there will be plenty of solid spotters around. I have taken an attempt in a Frantz double canvas, but it's been awhile. (It was 500, unsurprisingly I failed to get to depth).

OK, hit a shirted bench tonight, first time in over 2 months. It was a little disappointing. I benched 451 at the meet last Nov. Tonight I hit 385 off of two boards which was terribly ugly, very near what I would call floundering. Then I did 425 off of one board, much much better. Finally I missed 435 no boards by one half inch on the left side (the right arm locked). Evalutation: I've failed to work the lockout sufficiently the past two months. On the upside, I don't feel like I've lost any strength while training clean the past 10 weeks.
I must redeem myself on Friday.

if you missed it at lockout that means you need to work a few inches below that. explosion out of the hole (leg drive) to generate speed to get thru those sticking points as well.
let me get this straight . you benched tonight and now you gonna go heavy again friday? 2 days rest? |

the PL coach at the high scholl here has the guys wearing some underwear that looks like a double ply polyester brief that goes way up the belly----all the guys are complaining about their nuts getting painfully compressed at depth--what is the deal with these things?
