Hey I may be very impatient here...
Hey guys,
After reading the stickies in this forum, I feel like I dont know shit about weightlifting/body building. Thus, my questions may sound like really repetitive for you guys, but I want to ask you some things. Like most beginners, I just did the classic 5 body split workout listed in bodybuilding.com and what not, and after I began to see myself lagging, I found SPBR and started it. I did day 1 of SPBR recently (and gonna hit day 2 routine soon), and I found myself barely sore from day 1 (besides my calves). Might this be because my body was used to useless high volume training and now that I train with less volume, my body just recovered more quickly? I'm pretty sure I lifted at the right weight (in the rep range)... Just for your level of understanding of my fitness level (idk even if it counts as a level lol) I squatted 245 5 times for 2 working sets for day 1, and I deadlift 225 for 6 reps and I can bench 180 for 6 reps. I'm 18, at 5'10 and I weigh 170. Or am i just being too impatient and should I just stfu and see what happens? I'm really excited to make gains through SPBR! |

Soreness is not the ULTIMATE of muscle growth and strength. Listen to Scott, and if the weights you are using for the given exercises keep shooting up, you are doing what your are supposed to be doing.

Wow, I'm on almost finishing the 2nd week of SPBR, and I think it's working wonders in strength gains.
Deadlifted 275 x 6 for two work sets, bench went up to 190 x 5 for 2 work sets, and squat went up to 245 x 6 for two work sets too. Noticed a surprisingly large increase in tricep size...I guess my triceps respond better to high reps with static weight. This is crazy! |

Funny what happens when you provide the stimulus to grow and leave some recovery left over to grow. You were complaining your weren't sore enough. Are you know understanding that beating yourself to death in the gym isn't needed and is in fact counterproductive to progress unless you have freak genetics?
Nice work ![]() IA

Haha thank you IA, you're purely a genius, I wish I knew about your forum so much earlier.
What is your opinion on taking in BCAAs? I just ordered Xtend few days ago, I feel like taking them might help me with recovery and give me a more "fresh, pumped feeling" on hte actual day to pump iron. It sucks how many people don't understand the SPBR routine. I've been telling my peers about it and they seem to be thinking it doesnt push hard enough (they're doing the whole 5 day split most bbers on roids do)...i actually lost some gym partners (because they would be doing something else when I would be doing the SPBR) but I dont care lol :P |
