Palo Alto- Any Suggestions?

My roommate from undergrad is getting married in fall, so I'm flying out to Cali to attend the wedding. I'm going to stay for a long weekend and visit with some of my other friends in LA and San Diego. Right now I'm left with a night in Palo Alto and no idea what to do or where to go. I tried looking online and in travel guides, but as someone who lives in a tourist-destination area, I know these sources can be misleading. I was wondering if any of you California boys or anyone who has stayed in Palo Alto had any insider suggestions for bars, restaurants, or basically anything that's fun in Palo Alto?

Just stay the hell out of East Palo Alto.
I haven't spent a great deal of time in Palo Alto, but there is a sushi restaraunt called Miyaki's that is off the hook. The food sucks compared to a really good sushi joint, but the atmosphere is wild. Everyone stands on their chairs or sometimes the table, they turn the lights off and flash colored lights, and everyone does sake bombs. Very fun, but people usually go in large groups. Not sure if it would be too cool by yourself.

Just go to downtown Palo Alto on University Ave and there will be tons of college students, great restaraunts, shops, and just about everything in one fairly small area. I'm sure you'll find something you'll like.

gokart racer is in burlingame which is like 20-30 min north. that's always a lot of fun...

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I probably should have mentioned that I'm going to be with a couple people. It's just none of us have been there before.
