18" arms, how common are they?

First excuse my ignorance, as I train primarily at home

I've been browsing a lot of 'bodyspace' pages at bb.com and I'm noticing that a very large percentage of males with a bodyspace page have arms around 18" or over. Now my arms are just over 16 1/3" , and I have been training for longer than many of these individuals (around 8+ years).

So I'm thinking either only the guys with strong physiques are creating bodyspace pages, or there is something that I'm missing when it comes to building arms. My lifts in many cases match, and sometimes exceed their maximum lifts.

Is it genetics, steroids, or 'specialty arm routines'? Being natural, and having average genetics, I'm wondering if its the fancy arm routines I'm missing, are high volume arm routines the key to arm size?

I just don't get how so many of these young guys have such big arms...

dont forget, some guys can have 16 inch biceps and look awsome due to their genetic shape and overall physique.

I myself do not do curls....only heavy rows etc

I would guess it would depend on how lean you are too, that and "e-stats". IMO arm size is pretty genetic, I have big arms for my weight ~17inches at 190lbs, and I am pretty damn weak to boot. Something about my arms just grow fast when I train them, I started off with 12" little over a year ago.

Either that or everyones measuring wrong including myself.

I was in Vegas this weekend and I probably saw at least 20 lean guys with 18 or bigger. A LOT of 17 inch arms in tight Abercrombie shirts too....

BTW, there are plenty of 18 inch arms out there. But as an overall percentage of lifters, it is a small number. Fat arms not counted. LOTS of heavy guys out there with a good amount of muscle that stretch the tape over 18.

Here are 18-5/8 arms.
