tell me to butt out if im not helping but if your worried about insulin resistance you've got 5 out of 6 meals that are dairy and and 3 out of 6 that contain whey (yeah i know 2 of those are for post workout, but you may want to try another type of protein). Dairy and whey have a huge Insulin Index.

Second that doesn't seem like a hell of a lot of food but as IA says everyone is diffent.

I just read a huge thread on Thyroid replacement protocols including the test you need to specificall ask for, which 99.9 of Dr don't usually test. I posted the link to the thread if IA has no objections (the guy that runs the board is a little notorious so I just dont want to post it without asking)

try to get your temp up as much as possible and then get tested, as being on thyroid meds for the rest of your life is something to be avoided.

Thyroid meds are the last thing a dieting lifter needs, they just need to buckle down and eat for awhile. A LOT of the people that get in this sport end up obsessive compulsive, and just will not eat right for fear or getting fat, or fear of not getting fat enough--lol.

And yes Keth sweet potatoes are fine.

Question

Wouldn't all of that powdered, nutrient-barren, protein lack the thermogenic effect that whole food would produce?

I don't know how you people gain muscle getting 1/3-1/2 of your protein from powders. I can hear my muscles laughing at me when I feed them that processed shit more than a couple times a week.

I totally gotten ridden of protein supps except at pre and post and i definitly have noticed a difference. Someone that has a metabolism as low as mine has no reason to use them outside of workout time except for reasons of laziness.

Kethnaab, what are your bodyfat levels at the moment? and how is your morning temperature average at the moment?

tough to say what my boyfat levels are now. I've been slowly going up in the blubber over the last 6 months, to the point where I bet I'm up to around 18%.

body temperature is consistently below 97.

and I only get in about 75 grams per day of protein powder, although you gents are making a good point regarding whole food vs. powder. It's just rather difficult to get in whole food all the time due to my schedule.

On a side note, I assume thermogenics, i.e. caffeine, ephedrine, green tea etc. would be a no-no?

I don't understand how people expect to lose fat when they're eating every 2 hours either.

All you need is a caloric deficit. macro profiles will determine to a large extent what is lost, fat or muscle.

How many times have you dieted successfully? and how many people have you helped do so?

yeah, thermogenic will shit can your adrenals especially if your body temp is that low and your adrenals would be most likely working overtime to bump up your thyroid.

Doing the amount of cardio your doing at your level of BFat, and Body temp I'd say something must be going on.

I would suggest doing some searching on thyroid boards about the Comprehensive tests you need to ask your doctor to perform and then just go and tell him what you want done (for ex TSH, T4, T3 free and bound, and thyriod antibodies to rule out hashimotos). Im not sure if this is possible due to you having to see military Dr though. But good luck.

1-3 gms tyrosine might boost your thyroid. It's not nearly as harsh as caffeine and ephedra.
