Timed Carb Dieting

I almost feel like erasing all the FULL TCD threads on the boards. People are still asking almost all questions about full TCD's when in most cases they would be better off using 1/2 TCD's A full defined as:

5 days no carbs except PWO, and two days carb-ups

A 1/2 defined as LOW carbs taken in every day with cut-off at a certain point--usually 4-8 hours before bed.

It has been about a year since I switched my clients to doing 1/2's and the results have been across the board much better. Fat loss is a bit slower, but strength/size gains are better, and compliance is WAY, WAY, WAY, up. People don't binge on 1/2 days anywhere near as bad. I still use full TCD's with certain clients and some competitors getting ready to do shows, but for Joe average that wants to lose some bodyfat, and get a LOT stronger while doing it, and add mass while dropping bodyfat genetics willing the 1/2 day works extremely well with way less hassle. Quit making it harder on yourselves. I tried to make it easier on you

Despite many posts about this, almost all questions are directed to full TCD's and I constantly get new clients that have been doing fulls.

There is nothing wrong with the full version, but the 1/2 is MUCH easier to do and works AWESOME if your kcals and macro's are plotted correctly.

Are the weekly calories and carbs roughly the same between the two diets?

I think I'd rather do a full TCD than tease myself with a half day of carbs......I ALWAYS crave carbs at night

I agree though, most will do much better on a 1/2 approach

Whats meant by 'low' carb versus 'no' carb.

so then on the 1/2 day version you will eat some carbs but preferrably LOW GI carbs like mainly vegetables, and some brown rice or bread??
Fat still stays high at around 40-50% for a 1/2 day right??

Low is relative. If you take a guy that can lean bulk at 350 grams of carbs a day, 150 might be "low".

"No" carbs is self explanitory, but trace carbs are fine, which means up to about 6 grams a meal.

Yes, fat stays high.

I dont really understand that 2nd part. The first sentence says "only carbs pre and post workout", the second says "carb cutoffs". Can you elaborate, and maybe you can explain to me how this would fit into my schedule.

Im doing DC right now, strength is increasing quite a bit. Im 5'10, 169LB's and about 14% BF.

Approximately 300g protein a day, about 150g carbs and 60g fat a day. Those are ballparks, not exact. Carb cutoffs are around my 5pm meal, then another meal at 7:30, another at 10 and then one before bed.

Thanks for the help IA.

I'm not going to do a full TCD but I was curious, would it be m ore beneficial to use isolate, casein, or egg protein rather than concentrate?

Oh man!
Iīm so sick of all the wannabe internet experts. I am taking som heat on some forums about just about everything I do.

"That high protein intake of yours will not help you at all"
"BCAA are not needed at a higher dose than 5g/workout. More is a waste"
"Box-squats will not help your quads grow, itīs a movement for you glutes and inner thighs only"

And now, todays addition:
"Carbed dieting is stupid, you should only consider cals in - cals out. When you eat carbs doesnīt matter, itīs the daily intake that matters"

Are there any good responses to this bullshit that will make them understand that in the real world, things often work differently than what the latest pub med update said....

But then again, what do I know? My progress with Wesley has been so slow right?
