I'm sure you've also known even more skinny guys who were weak, slow, uncoordinated no matter what they did. Typical hardgainer, slow-twitch dominant.

To me, it stands to reason that these two common specimens could benefit from atleast slightly different approaches to training. With the end goal of course becoming hopefully larger, stronger, and perhaps quicker.
yes = everyone is different
Answer = learn how YOUR body responds

All this catagorization stuff is pretty much pointless however.

Just a word about TNation. Having published an article there and having talked to a few other authors privately, certain things happen that you have no control over. They pay you for the article and it becomes theirs. In doing so, they do what they want to it, including adding content, changing titles, etc....They treat you well though.

They are a marketing machine. So an article might be legit but redone to their flavor and liking.

I tend to agree with what JC wrote about finding a true representative for a type. It may be helpful for distinctions but not much more.

KISS.... Keep it simple, stupid:

Progressive weights in good form, small weekly increments in a select few compound movements. Eating good quality food regularly but not to the extent that gets you fat. End of.

Funny thing, I spoke to strength coach here in town about people's ease or difficulty in gaining size and strength and I asked if he had heard of 'easy-hardgainers' and his expression changed and he said yes they exist, but are few and far between. They basically lift like a big dude but are smaller and ripped all year long, therefore extremely athletic and agile due to incredible power to weight ratio and neuromuscular efficiency. They are usually pretty solid to begin with, leaning toward the mesomorphic side. He mentioned Adrian Peterson. Even if they don't lift they look like it. He looked at me up and down and said, "don't worry, you're not one".
