Rest pauses, leaning out

I, like many friends, have never been so sucessful leaning out than when relying on a rest pause based lifting program (given diet and cardio are the same as with another programs).
Charles Poliquin is a firm believer in GH responses to short rest workouts - specially with heavy weights being used, not 4 half assed sets of 12 with almost no weight.

IA do you see any relation between Charle´s belief and real life results? I understand he works with the top 0.05% athletes in the world who barely holds anything in common with most of us, but yet, do you think those GH spikes he talks about are useful to lose fat?

(I believe that lifting is meant to keep us big and strong but hell if I dont get fatter when I start eating carbs before it)
