Yeah me too. This will be the first time for me. How kind of training will you be doing to be prepared for the event?

Nothing special, I'm just sticking with my weightlifting routine combined with a couple of basketball runs per week. I'm already in pretty good shape and have plenty of endurance, I don't think I'm going to need any special training for this event. It's an intense race, but my friends who have done it told me that people who are in pretty good shape can get through it pretty easily.

Knew some friends that did it.
They said the obstacles were fun. The very long running in between sucked. I lost all respect for them when I saw some fat fuck with a tough mudder tshirt and head band (meaning he finished it) lol. |

Just did the MN one on Sunday. It was cold and wet and muddy. I'd recommend running wet a few times to prepare for it. The majority of people I saw that had problems were hypothermic and cramping up. The distance wasn't bad at all and I never ran further than six or seven miles in training because I weigh 230 and get shin splints. I did a lot of conditioning style workouts and Kettlebell circuits and never was very tired. The worst obstacles were:
Cherynobyl Jaccuzzi:Swim in ice filled water dive under a wall and climb out this was just damn cold Electric Eel: I got zapped in the head by 10,000 volts while face first in Mud my buddy did it on Saturday and passed out from the shcok and ended up in the hospital Sunday night with Pneumonia because he aspirated some mud in his lungs. He is a big dude that looks like EX so it just happens I guess. The Damn Irrigation pipe filled with muddy water obstacle: This sucks if you are claustrophobic because you need to submerge your head while in the tube to get out. Other than these everything else was fun. I'd recommend being light and strong and if you can run 5-6 miles nonstop it will be easy. |

Ran the Georgia race back in February. I was cold (high 30's) with a 25 MPH wind on average. This was my first race ever at 42 years old. All I did to train for the event was increase the intensity of my upper body workouts and cut back on my leg workouts, since I increased my cardio workouts. Instead of the normal 30 minutes a couple days a week for cardio, I increased to 6 days a week alternating between running, mountain biking, and swimming. I did all my swimming in a local pond starting in Oct and it got a little to cold so I cut out the swimming about mid December. It was a great experience and accomplishment for me, so I signed up to do it again this December in Tampa.
