Email and web use 'to be monitored' under new laws-UK
Not usually bothered by much in the news, but this is just bullshit
"The government will be able to monitor the calls, emails, texts and website visits of everyone in the UK under new legislation set to be announced soon. Internet firms will be required to give intelligence agency GCHQ access to communications on demand, in real time." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-17576745 1984 isn't far away at all

I hate to break it to you, but you can also feel for us in the states as well. This has been happening since before the Patriot Act here in the US. I have holdings in several companies and intellectual properties that do just what's described. Every ISP with nexus on American soil complies with all on-demand requests.
I was present at a product demonstration at DODIIS 2012 in Denver where some new functionality around social media and online community monitoring was shown. Every morning there are agencies that have visibility of activity on everything from Facebook to Star Wars geeky fan-boy sites. Somebody in the backroom at - say - www.indygear.com says they would like to bomb the white house? The secret service will not only know about it, but will have identified who "DontCallMeJunior89" really is and will act in whatever way is deemed appropriate. Because of the way they query? I guarantee this post will show up on that radar. Don't laugh - it's part of the reason I can send my son to Notre Dame. Now if I can just get him to study? Regards, -Todd |
