Questions about the bench (equipment)
1) what is a good height? or the standard height. my bench is literally 2 feet off the ground if not more and I love it. it feels much more stable than what you have in average commercial gyms
2) is there any reason to limit the width of the pad as long as your arms don't get in way? 3) is there any function of the pad other than to dig into with your traps? would there be anything wrong with a hard flat surface instead of a pad?

If you are lifting at home and never compete, make it however tall, wide, hard etc you want. As long as you get stronger. If you might compete,it'd be best to use a bench that is sized closely to what you'd see in a meet. 18" high total. 12x48" wide and long. Medium firm foam for most feds, firm for Usapl. Non slip vinyl for most, regular vinyl for usapl. I can sell you an upholstered pad ready to bolt on most benches

Oh Scott, speaking of that..
Do you think it'd be possible to make something(a bench) that I could latch/velcro/something (not bolt) onto commercial gym benches so I have something better and a bit higher to bench off of? |
