Girls in PL Gear
I have been seeing guys get into PL gear early. When I say early, I mean that they cant even bench 225 raw, squat 315 raw, etc... Its been said that you should hold off until you bench 300, squat 400, dl 500 before you get into gear.
But what about girls? What numbers should a girl be at before playing with gear? |

For a second I thought this was going to be some kind of powerlifting fetish thread

Honestly, who really cares? People can do what they want. We have an old guy that cant bench 200 raw at our gym but is a "world champ" LOL If it makes em happy and it doesnt hurt anyone big deal.
I would say using statements like double bodyweight in squats and deads and 1.5 times bodyweight is not bad. But I could be way off. |

i don't see why you should stay out of gear unless you reach those numbers, we have one girl at our gym that's never benched raw, she hit 408 IIRC last month, i posted a vid about it recently in the vid section along with bill crawford and another of our lifter's attempts
just mix em both up, warmup raw then slap on a shirt when you come close to a max?

Gear or raw. When to or when not to. IMO, the real issue is simply getting MORE women into powerlifting. Rafter, I know that wasn't the question. I just wanted to throw it out there to do what you can to inspire other women to lift. Please and thanks!

I actually think gear has hit the sport in that regard. Its too time consuming to put the stuff on. If anyone, women are not going to want to mess with all that. Heck my wife gets annoyed with wrist straps.

i think waiting till you do sumthin raw is unnecessary, raw lifting and geared lifting really have nothing to do with one another.
