I have gleaned from other threads that it appears HG's should not supplement with glutamine but rather with GABA.
I tried GABA some years back, when it was supposed to stimulate gh release and was to be taken before bed, but it made me sort of "twitchy" so I soon gave it up!
But the stuff on this forum suggests that GABA should be used for a different purpose and utilised differently?
How much GABA, how often? Thanks.

Hi,
Trouble and IA have made exceptional contributions to GABA supplementation over the right forum sections; hence, I'd suggest you to perform a search on gaba or the acid complete name so you can gather all the info you're currently looking for. Maximum if you don't visit the forume as you used to.
Lately I've read very nice posts and replies from Trouble on this great supplement.
Good luck.

I did a "gaba" search before I posted and, although there was a lot of info, I could not find any explicit dosage recommendations. Maybe I missed trying to work through the hard-to-understand format that Trouble presents the info in?! Thanks.

Gaba dosages fluctuate according to each one metabolic necessities; I've seen dosage ranges that go from 1 gram to 5 grams of Gaba.
As well as dosages I've also seen dosage timing variations; some lifters take gaba from 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to workout and some others take gaba before bed.
However; also lifters have experienced certain effects with gaba such as body or limbs tickling, and increase of body parts' temperature, being these only temporary symptoms.
My suggestion is gor you to try 1 gram for starters and if you have no temporary adverse effects to increase dosage as studies indicate that Gaba is a precursor on growth hormone before exercise and when sleeping.
My 2 cents.
Good luck.

GABA makes me feel like shit for about 10 minutes - hot flushes, tingly, very short of breath. I know this is a typical side effect, but does it mean I shoudn't be supplimenting with GABA?

bricked -
what size of a dose are you currently using? it should be 1/4 teaspoon (500mg) or so per dose, a few times per day. i use even a little less than 1/4 tsp. you shouldnt be experiencing shortness of breath i dont believe. if you are already using a very small dose you may be very gaba sensitive. i have seen trouble recommend theanine in such cases, but i would double check with her for sure.
Sib, I was dosing at 1g. Not less than 10 minutes later my breath is shallow and I'm hot/tingly all over.
Do you know what GABA sensitivity could indicate?

I am the same way, as well as many others. I think trouble has said why, its in another GABA thread. I thought I was having a stroke or something.

Indeed this is a common side effect for most of lifters supplementing with Gaba; which I personally don't think it will have a bad permanent effect over medium/long terms.
Brick,
Maybe you should acclimate your body going from smaller dosage and increasing it slowly and checking out how your body is responding to it.
By reading Trouble's thread on Gaba as well as some other valuable information; I think Gaba is a very good supplement even for liver function, so I hope it'll work for you at some point without feeling bad symptoms.

Lower your dose and you won't have problems. NO MORE THAN 500MG w/ Taurine at one time.
1g Taurine
400-500mg GABA
Mag Citrate (dose dependent on bowel tolerance, IMO)
Some say 400mg Mag Citrate, but I get the shits on 200mg or more.
