Here is a clip of me doing some weighted situps: 113lbs x 10, these have become one of my favorite exercises!

Looking good Deano..!
Some lifters state that range of motion for this exersize doesn't need to go all the way up from bottom to top but just as high as you already contracted your abs, meaning that not necessarily to touch your thighs/knees otherwise your back would be taking part of the lift.
What is your point of view?

Personally i like to go all the way up, i am not trying to isolate my abs when doing situps, i want my whole core to get stronger and with that all lifts will get stronger. And trust me you feel your abs all the way to the top!

Cool Deano, looking strong.

I've been holding the DB differently when I do those, your way looks more workable. I'll try them that way next time I do them.

This is one of the reasons why I do a lot of my situps on the GHR.

Face up on it, use it like a roman chair.

Do I have to wear my ball gag too?

in this particular instance, you better hold the whip - you'll need it, rofl

You'd be facing the wrong way for the whip to be any good.

<snaps fingers> aw, shucks. guess you're outta luck.

point is, that sounds a very particular form of torture that maybe i won't investigate quite at this junction :S

It's a great exercise, and not as bad as you may think. What's fun is when you start using bands to add resistance!

You guys must have a lot of "frustration" built up - LOL. Just about everypost ends up going south (not that, that is a bad thing!), but it is funny.

But yes my tail bone ends up getting really ray, but only when i do high rep regular situps, not when i stay at 20 reps or less with any weight, anyone know of a remedy for this?

wasn't exactly south - just kinda roundabout, lol.

well, shortmick's option is one. i can tell you now, using a doubled-up exercise mat doesn't work. it makes it worse because the thin mat covering eventually wedgies its way right on up there. i'm about ready to try a big-ass elastoplast - but i guess the GHR station would be a tad more dignified.

Or do more low-box squats, good mornings, GHRs and deadlifts to have more ass to cushion with :)

trust me: having a big ol' butt doesn't help.

I do my sit ups about the same with similar weight. I'm not sure if my form looks as good as Deano's as I"ve never thought of taping it. The movement up feels weird for me. I generally lower the dumbbell a bit on the way down and move it back up on the way up. I'm not trying to but it happens. Generally I do this just on the gym floor, the weight leaves nice marks on my chest for a few hours, but other than that I don't ahve it unconfortable.
