Howdy ya'll! I'm a newbie in need of a new routine. I have been doing the Max OT routine for 24 weeks and am lookin for something different. I am not looking to get huge or anything like that, just look better. I would prefer a 5 day routine just cause that is what I am use to. I lift Mon- Fri and rest on the weekend. I also do cardio during the week after I lift. Part of my problem is that I only take in between 1000-2000 cals a day. I really don't like to eat but that is for another post.
Thanks

William

yea, you should be eating more. That link posted has some very good routines. They are NOT 5 day splits, but there is a reason for that ;)

Yeah, that and maybe the five-days-a-week routine.

Honestly no I don't. I always feel guilty after eating. I basically eat because I have to. Part of it is my fear of getting fat again. I once weighed 300 and am down to 150. I basically did it by not eating. 3norns knows alot about my problems. She told me about this site and another.

You need to understand there is more than black and white in the eating world. Sounds like you are in serious need of some grey shades. 6 foot 150?? That is bones and...well, bones.

What you eat has a big infuence over what it does in your body. Whoever said "a calorie is a calorie" had their head DEEPLY buried in their ass.

Middle ground is good:D

You can eat enough to grow without getting fat if it is done correctly.

what i've been telling him. he has, however, the morbid dread that he will fall face first into an all you can eat buffet and wake up 300lbs in the morning again. he's also orthorexic, which isn't helping one bit.

Eat to live not live to eat. Keep this mentality and you may realize that food is for fuel and nutrion not just for pleasure.

Well I am trying this routine out here
http://www.ironaddicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6632

I am doing between 35 to 45 min of cardio on Tuesdays and Thursdays with the lifting on Mon,Wed,Fri. Do you think that I should do cardio over the weekend as well? Are there any other suggestions(other then eat eat eat) that you can give me?

lol - sorry - but like i told you before, you can lift all the weights in the world, but if your diet's not dialled in, you won't get the results. remember what i said about trying to drive a full tank's worth on half a tank of gas or putting crap fuel in your truck?

You don't need that WO at your stage of the game and it will be even less useful if you are not eating like a horse.

Try one of the 3 day a week WSB for BB'er formats.

What is wrong with that work out? Is it more for beginners or more advanced lifters?
Also what does WSB stand for?

It is for more advanced lifters without great recovery. But for advanced (mid-level above) nontheless. WSB stands for Westside Barbell Training. It is likely the system most used by strength ahthetes today. Primarily in powerlifting and strongman training, but it works WONDERFULLY for BB'ing as it is very balanced.

I have a few variations of it that can be used by lifters at any level.

I'll have to look into that. I am not really going for a body building look, just something to keep me in shape.

lol - bodybuilding is not the guys on the cover of muscle and fitness.

it's basically anything you do to improve your body's appearance. it's not the routine you pick, per se, but the weights you choose. if you don't want that big, built look, don't choose very heavy weights. you're already using weights to alter the proportions of your body, so technically you're already a bodybuilder.

but you still have to eat, otherwise you'll end up with that overtoned scraggy look that just isn't too attractive, no matter how you slice it.

Well I'm still haveing trouble finding a routine. I looked through the WSB section but then read at the bottom if I don't know what DE or ME means that I should not be trying it. I guess you could still consider me a newbie.

nothing wrong with that - nobody was born an expert. just keep reading and asking questions and you'll pick it up in no time.
