Here's one of the guys I train with...Josh. He just started training WS with us about 7 weeks ago. We have a meet at school that our Strength and Conditioning Association is sponsoring.

He's weighing right around 160lbs, he's 18 years old....damn kid is STRONG!

This is him tonight in the gym...hitting a 15lb PR with a 335 paused raw bench!

What do you all think? Would this pass pretty much anywhere? I think it would:

Is his ass on the bench at all? Just wondering :)

hoops its virtually impossible to pick your ass up off the ebnch with that kinda setup. he's using a lot of leg drive, which is beneficial for a big bench.

next time you bench try tucking your feet under you that far and see if you can pick your ass up. his feet are behind his ass. thats a painful position to be in but very effective for a big arch. plus make sure to plant your traps on the bench and not your back.

Ex,

His hand placement looks pretty much the distance I was gripping it at, although my elbows stayed tucked in more.

And yeah, he's pretty strong I'd say!

We're still working on his technique. He's actually got an Inzer Single Ply Denim open backed shirt comming. We're hoping he's going to have a shot at the Junior 148 or 165 WR at the next IPA meet April 16th.

Check your firewall and see if it is on your "allowed" list.

his feet are real far behind him. does this have any benefit or what?

It helps to keep the arch in your bench, but you dont want them so far behind that you can't push off of them - and you dont want them so far inside that you have no lateral stability. Everyones build is going to give them a different sweet spot with positioning, it takes some practice to find the perfect positioning.
