It's Thursday, I,m single again, and planned on girlfriend shopping friday, saturday. I am 42, and damned if I don't have 2 zits on my forehead. AND NO, I'M NOT ON GEAR.
DAMN! any other old-timers that have this happen every once and awhile? Happends to me every 3-4 months.
Prolly cuase it's been 95-100 and I don't have air and have been spending the last 2 weeks sweating on everything waiting for the sun to go down.
Told ya I was a vampire:D

Here's something i would recommend you dont need a presciption for and it truly works like nothing ever.
if it bothers you that much this would be the best thing next to Accutane!!

bah - save your money. i get zits alla time (i'm 38 and not on gear, lol) - before you go to bed, dab some toothpaste on the zit. in the morning, it'll be dried up and well on the way to healing.
what else works is windex (yes, My Big Fat Greek Wedding wasn't wrong) and baking soda paste (not quite as effective cause it tends to dry up and fall off too soon).
to keep them at bay during hot weather, get j-cloths or similar soft cloths, put them in a ziploc container, and dump a distilled water and witch-hazel mixture over them. use it to wipe your face throughout the day.

honestly if one has more than 1 or 2 zits and can't control it like i used to have, this does work.
i would agree with you 1 or 2 save your money, but more than that which you can't control i would realy recomend this, works like magic.
BTW threenorns i was wondering if you might have some tips for those red marks left by zits they piss me off.

sorry - those are scars left by inflammation. i'm guessing you have sensitive skin and a fair complexion, tend to sunburn easily?
best way is to preven the zit from getting so inflamed- the witch-hazel thing works for that, as does tetracycline, an antibiotic your doctor can prescribe for you, a salicylic acid ointment (OTC or prescription), regular exfoliation with a loofah or gentle facial scrub (and i mean GENTLE, dammit!), and..... that's about all i can think of at the moment.
about tetracycline: the dose needed to keep acne from getting infected is usually fairly low, but:
it can muck up certain supplements
you can't take it until two hours after ingesting calcium or dairy products or one hour before because calcium binds to it and carries it out of your system
if you have a sensitive immune system, it might knock it down a bit
for females, (in case any are reading or unless you wanna get real adventurous) tetracycline will cause discolouration and malformation of developing teeth in the foetus
one common cause of nasty acne is allergies - wheat, dairy, egg, and vitamin E can sensitize your immune system and cause an exaggerated response to local invasions by bacteria, making the zit worse than it really should be. you can only determine if you have allergies by doing the full testing routine: the scratch test, which will determine if you have a histamine response to various compounds, and an elimination diet, which will determine if you have endocrine reactions to food.
um... sorry about the epic, lol.
oh yeah - for the big nasties (ie, boils or cysts), you can get a cortisone injection from the doctor that will clear it up quickly, or you can evacuate them by using either a wide-bore syringe or a small glass bottle. heat the glass bottle thoroughly (about five minutes) in boiling water. let it cool until you can just barely tolerate it. hold the mouth of the bottle down over the offending spot and wait for it to cool. the vacuum does a fairly decent job of clearing it out without causing trauma to surrounding tissues and thus spreading the inflammation. clean and sterilize the wound immediately and thoroughly, but avoid harsh stuff like rubbing alchohol - it'll dry out the edges of the sore making them crack and giving bacteria another foot-hold.
sorry again... :p

Taking vitamin B5 seems to keep me pretty cleared up.
Read it on one of the other steroid boards, and I'll be damned if it doesn't work.

the whole acne bit was unneeded...lol but thank you!! as of now i have no acne, just those red marks left after the scars... they are slowly dissapearing, i was just wonderng if you knew of anything to spped it up a bit!!
btw yea i do do burn quite easily, but the only spot that seems to burn evey single time is my neck and thats pretty much it. others are burned but not as bad as the neck.
thank you for takin your time and writing all that... my battle with acne really wasnt pleasant but i did it and i do owe it all the the Clear skin Image pill.
Thanks again, i very much appreciated it!!

lol - i figured you had your complexion under control from your previous posts; i just posted all that for anyone else with acne-related questions (given the number of teens in here, i figured there might be a couple).
try salicylic acid cream - not mechanical dermabrasion.
oh yeah - vitamin a acid (retinoic acid) is someting i don't recommend because i wasn't impressed with it. the results were good, but there are SO many restrictions, such as you canNOT be exposed to sunlight or you'll burn like a motherfucker.
My girlfriend got some marks and is considering a peeling. Gonna look for this aspirin cream lol. Would you know what´s the appropriate concentration?
threenorns

start small, with an OTC daily moisturizer containing salicylic acid. if there's no improvement after six weeks, move gradually up to higher concentrations. otherwise, ask the doctor for a prescription.

I get some heavy dutty whitehead action when the weather gets warmer.. a combination of way too much test, lotsa grease in my diet and an office without working AC's to blame :(
they are fun as hell to pop tho
threenorns

grease does not cause zits - it's an urban myth. neither does chocolate or pepperoni, unless you're allergic to them. wash your face two or three times a day with a mild soap, should help keep them under control.

Dial soap.
During HS football (many, many years ago) I would get contact acne from the around the face helmet padding and chin from my chin resting in a sweat filled chinstrap for two hours at at time during the two a day August practices in southern ohio with a temp of 98 degrees with 98 per relative humidity. I remember one day I weighted in at 200; at the end of the day 190. This was when you got one cup of water per practice.
ANYWAY...
Team doc recommended Dial soap for the antibacterial triclorban (sp?). It worked like a champ.
IA: I'm don't know about your measurement on the suave-o-meter but hair styling goo can also cause breakouts. Some fellas use the crap others don't but it can contribute to breakouts.

does turtle wax count as hair-styling goo?

After he mentions he shaves his head you mention styling gel? LOL
My guess is you probally just need to wash your face more. The simplest solution is normally the best.

I missed the head shaving part.
I shave mine then on weekends use a random orbital sander with a polishing mitt for a high beam shine. Lemon Pledge during the week when I'm in a hurry.

I find the Lemon Pledge to INCREASE acne, though it's somewhat offset by the abrasive action of the polishing mitt. :D

I like my shaved dome....it was the in between having a full head of hair and the shaved head that sucked.
My nephew saw a photo of me at 21 and cracked up....he said I looked like I had on a toupee.
Plus, when I shower in the morning I can soap up my chest and shoulders and just keep heading north.

some women like the shaved look, some don't.. but if you're big, reasonably jacked, tanned (or mystic tanned :p) and don't have one of those long armish faces then you should be able to pull it off. Plus you can run tren/winny/test all year round :)
If you're little, look like moby or micheal stipe then you're fucked.. for some bizzare reason those dorks are often given as examples of white guys who look good bald. Uh uh. no way.
if not there's always hairclub for men
