Hey all,

I'm back. I visited a bit back last December then dropped out of site for awhile.

After a slipping on some icy covered steps and cracking my back from earlobes to asscrack (which actually felt good) I hit the back of my head and knocked myself out for about three minutes. Someone asking my if I was hurt is what brought me back around.

The reason I fell grew and worked around the edges of my mind until April when the conscious finally won and I realized I had turned into a drunk. The truth maybe difficult but rarely complicated. No drama, no screaming, yelling or pissing and moaning on my part. So I quit booze and cigarettes (a pack of Camels daily) and went underground for awhile.

I think I'm one lucky man...how many folks get their lives handed back to them for a clean restart at 41?

Here's the question (and I'm not trying to stir up shit): I think Powerlifting, rather than bodybuilding, will serve my needs better as I age. How can I combine the big three with some secondary lifts to create an increasing strength base with some aesthetic appeal as well?

Any guidance is appreciated! It' s good to be back.

I found this after searching:

I like the looks of it. I'm gonna give this a try for 12 weeks. I thought I'd use rope skip for cardio. I've gotten good at it....I used it to get through the "jones" when I stopped smoking.

Glad to hear things are turning around. Go to the thread under the "must read" section and pick one of the routines from the "my top 5 lifting routines" thread. Or EXMGQ's simple powerlifting routine. And you will be well served.

Some folks just get older; some folks get smarter and better. This old man is one of the lucky ones.

exmgq: I'm taking iron addicts advise and using the basic p/l routine you posted. Starting where I am everything is progress! LMAO.

I'll keep you all posted
