Hey Everyone,

I don't think I've ever personally thanked a member for reporting spam, but we do see when you have reported it and appreciate your help in keeping our site clean and uncluttered.

Please keep up the good work. The staff can't always catch everything so it really does help when you guys inform us of posts or signatures with spam in them.

Thank you,

TB

Seems like with the size of the board and increased traffic, new posts move down the list pretty quick so they are easy to miss.

I try and report them whenever i see them......never really knew if you guys were getting the notifications or not. Glad to hear you are on top of it. :D

There are several threads on the board that are essentially "spambot bait." The book discussion thread is one (it was even STARTED by a spambot), as is "Teen Fat Loss." Many, if not most, of the "Introductions" threads get spammed. For some infuriating reason Wes's tribute thread gets spammed occasionally, too, and it makes me wish I could throttle whoever's doing it.

Admins have the ability to ban specific IP addresses, so if you're a mod and you happen to notice a certain IP coming up over and over again, let one of us know so we can hard-block the source. I had to do that a few weeks ago during that brief BB.com siege.

One of us needs to take up a part-time job in spamming so we can learn their tricks and trade secrets.... and then crush them.

Everyone should use this ^^^ not-very-smiley, smiley at least once in their posts on IA :]

honestly never even noticed the report button until reading this and wondering how I do it lol.

Then the next thread I read I see a spammer and BAM! :killtheimu: I get one :)

Spammers are quite easy to spot because they'll usually have a link to something random in their signature and their posting style is quite easy to spot, too. I think that the reason that there is so much of them around here is that it is easy to get a bot to answer the CAPTCHA question - is it still something like "what's 117 + 3"?

One of the reasons i like this place is that spammers/trolls get banned fast.

I troll bb.com all the time and wont get my troll account banned for weeks.

I'm sorry, but vamshi's post with the "banned" under his name and then the spammer in here is just too much to resist saying something about. REPORTED MF!
