Run a jumpstretch band (a light or average) over the dip bars, put your feet in and dip away. Unilke a gravatron or even a bench assisted dip the resistance curve mathes your bodies. Where you are weak the band is strong. Where you are strong the band is weak. PERFECT!

or do the opposite insteead of adding weight. we did these for a while and its tough. easier on the shoulders at the bottom but makes the lock out tough as hell depending on what band you use.

also works well for pull ups/chins but you will need a long band

I forget what website has these. Where do you get the ones that come in different tension strengths? Need 'em for pullups. :(

What did you hear about customer service? I've purchased several things through Ironwoody and I've never had any problems. My bands have held up fairly well. I used them for bench and squats for a while, but in the end decided that it wasn't getting me anywhere that I wasn't getting without them. I do use them for all kinds of exercises, but not in power moves. I'll use them as resistance in calf work, jump work, tricep and bicep, abs, agility and speed drills...

Kabuki had a lot of trouble with them

you think the same would work for chins?

Hmmm, may have been a one time thing, unless he has had repeated trouble. They aren't top of my customer service list, but much like Ironmind and APT I never have much of a dealing with them, I put in my order, get confirmation that it is on its way and I'm done. Some of the smaller companies I buy from offer MUCH better customer service. Heck, I've recieved personal phone calls from owners to tell me that my order is in the mail. Of course I don't expect this, but I can tell you that the guys over at Atomic Athletic are absolute tops! http://www.atomicathletic.com/store/

Of course they don't sell bands, but all kinds of other odd (and expensive) toys.

Flex bands are all the same length just the resistance differs from band to band.

Here is how its done, you can also put your foot into the band.

Andrew, or anyone:

What bands would be good for pullups? I can do about 6, with lousy form, and can't seem to increase reps no matter what I do -- my lower body's much more developed than upper body.

(thanks for the vid nikk !)

VL,

If you were going with Iron Wody bands I would guess that you could get away with a mini band or at the most a super mini. Light bands will probably give you too much "oomph." I'm not sure what the comparable size/rating is at EFS, but basically, unless you are 300lbs, would suggest sticking to one of the two smallest sizes. I know a big guy that used a light to support his weight, but If I used a light (at 200lbs) I could do one finger pullups it would provide so much assistance.

Typically they sell bands in packs, so you buy a set of three different resistances. That would be the option I would look into rather than buying sets one at a time. Although, I think Iron Woody offered a pullup assist set, which gave you one band of several resistances rather than two bands. I would suggest grabbing pairs of bands, in the off chance that you ever want to use them for something else like squats or bench.

More than one person on my board has had problems with IronWoody. Kabuki's case is REALLY bad, they have basically ignored him after he was a loyal prior customer. We now find out that IronWoody subbed out the foam to Mitchell Athletics. Mitchell fucked up the order over and over, and basically told the owner of IronWoody that Buki was weird and a pain in the ass. Iceman had bands break and while they looked the same, they didn't have the same tension.

Interesting. It isn't that I doubt that things like this can happen, it just hasn't been my experience, but I bought my bands a few years back, so perhaps I got lucky. Knowing what I do of the EFS crew, I would certainly trust that their products are quality. I have put my IW bands through the ringer, and they have held up very well, but if product quality has recently changed, then I would say it is time to explore other options.

I buy a lot of my plyo/speed equipment through this company. Everything I have purchased through them has been top notch. http://www.performbetter.com/detail.aspx_Q_ID_E_3889_A_CategoryID_E_358

And of course, EFS http://www.flexcart.com/members/elitefts/default.asp?cid=138
