My first question about Vitamin C is pretty simple, is it ok to take 3,000 mg from supplements alone?
About potassium, I'm going to start using a potassium supplement along with a multi-vitamin/mineral, what would be a reasonable dosage?

If I am around people who are sick or start feeling sick myself I will run my Vit C up to 10g/day. It is a water soluble vitamin, the excess you will just piss out.

Ok, thanks. I guess by that I can presume that 3 g a day is no problem.
Anyone know about the potassium? I have no idea where to go as far as dosage with that.

The RDA for potassium is 3500mg. The potassium supps I have seen are all 99mg/pill (very low dosage), so depending on how much you get from your diet you may be popping a ton of pills. When I was having problems with lower back pumps I was literally taking a handful of potassium tabs 3x a day. Not recommending that though. What is your purpose for supplementing potassium beyond what you would get from a multi-v?

The Now Foods multi only has around 1% of the of the RDA, which is something like 33 mg. I was thinking that it would not be a bad idea to take extra or am I over-thinking it? The reason I was asking for advice is because I think taking 3500 mg from supplements alone would be way overdoing it(?) when the tablets only have 99 mg per capsule, especially considering the amount I may get from food. So basically I just want to make sure I'm getting in an adequate amount of Potassium, simply put. I just have no idea where to start?
Thanks btw, this helps a lot.

Maybe I am over-thinking it, but I'm still curious because the Now Foods multi has onloy 1% of the RDA. I am guessing that this may be the case because potassium is abundant already in our diets?
Shane, I already take 2 grams, and I was wondering if 3 grams was still ok. Thanks!

Ok I'm doing 4 grams of Vitamin C a day, no problem, feels good. That Serrano article was great. Also, I'm going to take 4 capsules of Potassium a day, which will be 396 mg a day, if that is problematic, let me know.

If you want more potassium, just eat more fruits/veggies. Those are your best potassium sources, and you should be eating them anyway (not that you aren't). I wouldn't worry about 396mg of potassium being an issue, there is more than that in a medium banana.

Thanks Siberian about the supplementation advice! And I have to admit, I've been lazy about the plant food recently, but I'm slowly getting back into it, haha.
