I have never understood that queue,I always feel like my scapulas come loose and my wrists support the weight if I actively "try" to get my elbows under the bar,maybe its cos I have a reasonably narrow grip when I squat,similiar to yours.

Thoughts??

It basically helps you keep your chest up better. I think if your back,traps, etc are thick enough you can get your elbow more under the bar. Thats prolly my problem, lack of muscle mass.
