Well, what are your picks? I love GSP, and I think Penn is way too arrogant (no offense to you Penn fans), but he is talented. This one could go either way.

I am not sure who will take this. What do you guys make of it?

From Five Ounces of Pain this a.m.
=====================================

Las Vegas - During Saturday’s UFC 94 main event that featured UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre defending his title against UFC lightweight champion B.J. Penn, Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer could be seen entering the cage between rounds.

Kizer approached the corner for St. Pierre and the two parties exchanged words. At the time, the nature of the conversation was unclear but the blog CagePotato.com is now reporting that Penn’s camp has filed a formal complaint with NSAC.

According to Cage Potato, Penn’s camp has accused one of St. Pierre’s cornermen of applying Vaseline to St. Pierre’s back between rounds. It’s an accusation that was supported by UFC President Dana White during the event’s post-fight press conference.

“I saw the commission jump up there and flipping out,” Cage Potato quotes White as saying. “They said one of the guys was rubbing Vaseline on Georges’ back in between rounds. It was one and two, I think.

“The guys from the athletic commission went up there and started screaming at them. Knocked the Vaseline and kicked the Vaseline out of the Octagon.”

Regardless of what the commission decides, it’s very unlikely that NSAC would rule to change the outcome of the fight. At most, if a corner person is determined to have committed the alleged act, he could face displinary action on an individual basis.

“Some Vaseline on a guy’s back didn’t change the outcome of that fight, but you don’t do it,” White stated.

what happens if you have Vaseline on your back?

it stops someone who is a BJJ expert from being able to sink in a triangle etc, think about it.

Imagine trying to hold on to someone who is not only sweating, but oily too, and you have a ground game where your leg now has oil on it. Your opponent is bald. Anytime you try to do something from the bottom with your legs, he has the potential to slip out.

The real issue is whether GSP instructed them to do it or not. If his corner guys did it without GSP's knowledge or intent, it is a different matter in my opinion.

It's stupid because I don't think he needed the help, now all we are going to hear is how GSP cheated Penn. REMATCH.

The NSAC noticed it, so it is a legit issue. However, they didn't stop the fight, so I bet this is done.

GSP is the best in his division. Penn is not as good at this point, with or without Vasoline.

Lol. BJ Penn has been portrayed this way (arrogant) for this fight on purpose.

Thanks for that info. I am well aware of how he was intended to be portrayed, as well as how he has conducted himself for the last few years in the sport.

clickclickboom is right, he is always arrogant.

GSP probably didn't even know that his back was being greased on, I read it somewhere that the coach was putting vaseline on his face and then rubbed his back by accident. I think GSP is a respectable guy, and I don't think he'd do something like this. Also, a source (http://mmafrenzy.com/9273/penn-files...-pierres-back/) says that "An NSAC official who witnessed the transfer had the Vaseline immediately wiped off with a towel."(Sorry, I have NO clue how to quote outside sources!!)
And from watching the fight, Penn was getting demolished by GSP, and I doubt that the vaseline had a huge effect on the outcome of the fight.. Anyways, it was a good fight, and I think GSP deserved it!

Vaseline or not it had no factor in the fight, BJ Penn was well undertrained and not prepared to take on this fight.

Alot better than one I went throughout summer... the YMCA, due to financial reasons haha

Seems to be a non-issue to me. Not just based on the article, but I watched the fight, and it goes down exactly as described in the article. The trainer has a tiny amount of vasoline on his left hand, rubs GSP's eyebrows/face, then touches his upper back. There was a camera literally 2-3 feet away recording this. They would have to be really stupid and/or ballsy to be trying anything like that with a camera right there. If anything was left on his back it would be extremely minuscule.

That's if anyone even cares :D
