My first thought is what kind of an idiot would need a strap tutorial. Then I am reminded how I was using them improperly for about 2 years.:pat: So great video.

I find my versa grips much easier to use than straps. They both accomplish the same thing, but versa grips are really good imo. Just my .02

Over under grip with straps is not good. Real easy to overload the underhand grip and tear your bicep or any of the tendons in the elbow.

How do people mess up the use of straps? They always seemed pretty self explanatory to me...but maybe I just copied the right person. I did use the over under with them for a while but that was mostly because it just felt more natural.

There are two ways you can wrap them. The correct way and the wrong way. it would seem that after a person wrapped them the wrong way they would try doing it backwards of the way that did not work. Apparently this is a big leap of deductive reasoning for many. Hench the need for video:D

I just noticed if u do it wrong the bar wants to roll out of your hand, so u wrap it the other way.

I'll be honest, I'm a complete dope when it comes to using straps. Even though I don't use them I'm probably going to use em on rack pulls next time I do them...and yes I will have to refer to Mike's vid :D

Funny thing... As soon as I got my straps, I was made because instructions did not come with them (Guess they thought only an idiot would need them, but I'm that idiot because I want to ensure I do stuff the right way). I searched youtube and followed the directions. However, I'm going to take a look at this video when I get home just to make sure...

I get calls from trainees all the time from trainees that tell me the straps don't help them at all--they are always wrapping them backwards. If it doesn't work one way--try the other, there are only TWO alternatives.

found lifting hooks work better less chance of cheating.

Hooks tend to bend or break in the 500+ range from what I've seen, and with straps you are at least using SOME muscle. I suppose next time I see a guy with motorcycle accident forearms but big biceps and triceps, I'll know he uses hooks.
