Hey guys, i was wondering if arching your back on a military press is ok....

It's not a large arch its just to keep my chest out and my head back.

thanks guys

Yeah, you really wouldn't be able to push much weight without an arch in your back unless you were pressing from behind your head.

not entirely on topic but i have always wondered because you keep your chest up does millitary press also hit the chest a little?

Yes it does... the more your chest is up the more it is like doing a bench press.

the "press" as in the standing military press (done in strict form) used to be an oly lift for a while (i think till the 70's) till they decided to change things because they were so hard to judge. however, the press is a vertical bench press. IME i like it a lot more than the bench press.
