Im 23 been lifting about 2 1/2 years (2 of wich wasted on volume :? ). Since I've switched to HIT Ive been putting pounds on almost every lift every time I go to the gym. BUT, I have a lot of trouble with squats. I'm having a terrible time learning to do them without hurting my back (at low poundages). For the past couple of months I've been doing front squats because I just couldnt get it right (they give me no probs). Is there some sort of method I could use to "teach" myself squats? I really dont think that my body won't allow proper form I just can't seem to "get it".
For a comparison my deadlift is approx 310 but squats are about 180 or so.

Thanks dudes,
and Iron addict especially(I dunno how long it would have took me to figure out why I wasnt growing without your info.... maybe ten years? :P )

You could give box squats a try. Or the all-mighty trap bar deadlift.

What I do is just act like I am sitting back with an arch in my back, and concentrating on keeping my weight on my heals, and then pushing the ground with my heals.

I like this approach too! the only thing to consider (at least with me) is that one should not lock-out at the top (I see so many people lockout(knees straight)), therefore I finish slightly bent (ever so slightly). Every time I lock out My lower back strains.

Good stuff with the lock-out. I tend to never totally lock up my joints unless I am doing something like a 20-repper.

By the way R/D, what gym doyou train at in H-Town?

90% Sugarland 24hour.
10% Hayes 24hour.

Recently moved to Richmond, Texas (59S and 99), use to train at Hayes prior to moving....sure do miss it.
Can't deal with all these kids at Sugarland. Although over hearding there conversations about training, nutrition, and drugs(AS) use makes it amusing.
-This bothers me because these have no idea what they doing (Drugs) and how they are hurting themselves in the future. I want to say something but they seem to know everything already>>>>>>
It is hilarious (actually sad) the see a 18-20 year old kid, blow up 20-25 lbs in 6-8 weeks, and them loss it all in three weeks because no PCT. They rather spend money on their cycle then post cycle. Oh well, I was young once too... I just wish somebody would of help me out back them.
I guess TO EACH THEIR OWN.
let me stop bitching...
Looking to step a home gym by the end of the year, a full cage in the gargage with a good bench. You can do all the power moves with these two pieces equipment.

Boffo234, are you from H-town???

I'm actually in Kingwood, and I get to lift at a YMCA.

I'm only 17, but I still get annoyed by my peers, and all the elder people. It's horrible walking behind them, carrying a heavy-ass dumbell to the situp station while their Depends bulge out their shorts as they shuffle their feet ... and where are they going? Nowhere in particular, they just like to waddle around. All well, someday that'll be me! :D

Nice to see bros from H-Town.

Maybe, as long as you didn't confuse me for some of those big MF. (ME is 6' and 198lb, age 31). It easy to spot me, becasue of DC style training. Hayes IMO has some of the biggest MF in HOUSTON. and the bitches are the BOMB!!!!!!!

So true, man 17 is great time to start. IF I had all this INFO when I was 17, my stats would be very different. Good to see young peeps caring about themselves. It will payoff in the long run!!!!!
you still got alot of natural Test, don't go fucking around w/ AS just yet....
see what you can accomplish clean with food, protien, gym, and sleep.

Any other bros and (sisters) from Houston chime in...

Yeah, belive me, I am not touching any PH's or AS anytime soon (if ever). But I have heard some stories of some people taking them at my school.

In fact, I have even had a friend ask me about taking them. He knew that I was somewhat educated in the qualities of AS and how to cycle, etc., etc. He asked me and I was just like .... I can't even describe it, but I was pissed. I forgot what I said, but the conversation ended with me walking away.

I know what you mean. There are some big guys there. I'm 5'11" and currently 252lbs. Been up to 270lbs. but trying now to lean up a bit while still working on building mass and strength. But believe me, no matter how big you get, you always want more. It's in our nature. I'm usually there Tues. and Thurs. around 4:30-5:30pm and Sat. around lunch time. Sat. my wife is usually with me. I'm also easy to spot 'cause you won't see me talking much if any and I'm the only one I see keeping a training log. Feel free to say what's up.
