I know the standard reccomendation for hit/hg style training is one medium rep set but as a lower rep fella (6-8 and usually more like 5-6) is the one set really enough in terms of TUL?

I ask because I'\m capable of doing up to 3 -all out- sets of low rep deads, each taken to almost failure provided I rest for about 10 mins between each max effort... but just because I'm capable of doing it doesn't obviously mean it's optimal for growth or strength. your thoughts appreciated

FWIW I normally do 2 balls out sets when I deadlift or one 20 rep rest pause set

The one set of low reps will work well for strength gains, but for MOST people will not provide enough TUT for optimal size gains.
