Throw out your cigs, dont buy any more, tell people who ask you to come for a smoke to fuck off.

It's not complicated, but far from easy. You just stop.

For me a life long regular smoker since 9 years old I found it "easy" to "quit" the physicall addiction although the first 48 hours were the worst.I just said after seeing yet another loved one die of possible smoked realted death screw it and screw these things and gave up on the spot.

What I find hard is not binge smoking where I will smoke for a few days every month or so esp when im stressed/depressed around bars :(

Theres a lot of ways to quit and im sure you know about them so pick one and have at it till u find one that works.High dosage of Vit C is said to reduce cravings and taking some GABA would also probs help along with some thenanine while ur weaning off the nicotine.

I smoked marlboro reds since I was 12, I quit at the age of 20. The key is do not get drunk for the first 3 months and just stop buying smokes. Simple as that. Easier said than done though.

Chantix works for a lot of people if your insurance covers it. The side effects might be annyoing but its better then lung cancer.

I smoked marlboro milds from age 13 to 18. I quit simply because my brother asked me "why do you smoke?" I didn't have an answer to his question... there really wasn't a point.

I also remember coughing all day, all night. I got a sinus infection about every 6 months according to my medical records.

It was also not so cool anymore when all my HS friends split to college as did I and i found myself going outside in the middle of winter for a smoke solo.

I didn't buy any gum or pill, i finished my last pack of cigs and remembered that date and took it 1 day at a time.

Honestly, when it's time to quit, you will. When it's YOUR time that is. I smoked for 15 years give or take. During the last 3 or 4 years of it I tried to quit several times and couldn't get anywhere. One day, I just stopped smoking. I even had a half pack of butts for a while. It was just time. I think something has to "click" upstairs and you just have to be ready to quit.

I find locking into a good diet and training program to be similar. If things in my life are off balance and I'm not ready to do it, I just can't. When everything lines up, eating perfectly feels natural and enjoyable. It's learning how to keep things in balance that's tricky. :)

I don't smoke, but I dip tobacco, which is more then likely a worse habit, but its debatable. Regardless I dip a shit-load, probably around half a can a day, maybe more. Got one in right now as a matter a fact. This summer when I worked landscaping all day and easily went through a can a day, I would frequently have to take two cans to work.

But refering to Thor's quote, I think he hit it on the head. I know I should quit, and have thought many times about it. It's not like I want to be missing my jaw 30-40 years from now. There have been times that I've felt painful/abnormal areas in my mouth, noticed discoloration, and my gums are receding. I always attempt to alternate where I place the dip in my mouth, but at I times I've put one in and been unable to find a spot where it did not hurt..so I simply dip through the pain. You would think I would get the messege, but the fact is at this point in time, I'm not ready to quit...hopefully I will be soon..best of luck to you though

Thor is right IMO. You have to want to quit yourself. That is the biggest issue. Once you're ready, you will. For some it's not a big deal. I smoked for a couple years in my teens and freshmen year of college decided I didn't want to anymore. I never looked back, wasn't too tough. It varies hugely between people. YMMV.

i used to dip quite a bit back in the day... but never that much... at most a can a week... i still do sometimes... I might buy a can every 6 months or so and finish it out when I get the urge but I hardly do it any more... a good dip feels nice every now in then its the guys who do a fuckload of it that have the problems
